I started with the County in September of 1995. In December of that same year I was sent from the tax office to the Assessor's office full time for training. Joe was the first person to latch onto me. I think that he was able to see something in me that I didn't see in myself at the time and he wanted to nurture that and make me the best that I could possibly be. He was always protective. Like a big brother who wanted to make sure nothing bad ever happened to me. He would walk by and softly punch my shoulder and I know it was his way of showing affection. He was my mentor, my friend, my surrogate big brother. He was gruff on the outside and a big soft teddy bear inside. He was a good man, a strong man. He will be missed every single day. I am honored that I had the opportunity to work with him, know him and love him. He shaped my life in ways he will never know and for that I will be forever grateful.
