Adrian George O'Farrell's Obituary
Adrian George O’Farrell passed away on June 9th, 2019, at his home in St. Helen’s Oregon, surrounded by his loving family. Adrian, “Ade” as he was known to his friends or “Papa” to his children and grandkids was 76 years of age, just shy of his 77th birthday.
He was born to parents Joseph and Frances O’Farrell on June 25th, 1942 in Portland, Oregon. Adrian graduated from Tigard High School, class of 1960.
Adrian married his wonderful wife Valerie, “Val”, in 1989, who survives him. Adrian is also survived by children Ryan O’Farrell and wife Jolie, Nancy O’Farrell and husband Fred, Forrest O’Farrell, Vern Simson and Jaime Simson. He is also survived by six grandchildren. Adrian was predeceased by parents Joseph and Frances O’Farrell, and sister Catherine Barnett.
Adrian was a devoted father and grandfather. He spent many years coaching kid’s baseball, basketball and softball teams, even taking daughter Nancy’s team to the Little League World Series in 1982. He loved all sports and was a big fan of the Oregon Duck’s, even though he attended Oregon State University for a short time.
Adrian loved the outdoors and shared that love with his family, taking them on many trips to the family cabin at Mt Hood, the Oregon and Washington coasts, “Jakes Place” at Lake Billy Chinook, and hunting trips across Oregon. Hunting, fishing and camping were among his favorite activities with his kids, grandkids and buddies. He and Val loved to travel together, whether it was a long planned out trip or a weekend getaway, these were always special times for them.
Adrian will be remembered for his big smile and infectious laugh especially when telling a funny story about something ridiculous that had happened to him. He loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and all things Irish. He will especially be remembered for his huge heart, his tremendous kindness to everyone and how much he truly loved his family and friends. He was beloved by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later time. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made to www.lymedisease.org , for the advocacy, education & research for chronic Lyme disease.
