Alexander Florian Albertine's Obituary
Albertine, Alexander Florian 86, Feb. 7, 1925 - Nov. 2, 2011.
Al was born in Chicago, IL, the son of Alexander J. and Louise M Agrella Albertine. He was raised with his three sisters Marie, Adeline, and Barbara.
In 1943 he joined the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater and China. On his return to Chicago Al completed two years of education at Bryant & Stratton Business College and went on to work with his father at Bowman Dairy.
On October 2, 1948 he married Bernadette M. Cogozzo. They moved to Portage, Indiana where he was active in community affairs and became a volunteer firefighter.
In 1961 Al began his lifelong dream of becoming a farmer and rancher by moving to Sherwood, Oregon. In addition to farming 30 acres of land, he worked for Boyd Coffee Company and became an award-winning salesman for Portland Wholesale Grocery.
In 1978 they moved to John Day, Oregon to help raise cattle on a 10, 000 acre ranch. In 1981 they retired to Bend and then St. Helens, Oregon.
Al is survived by Bernadette, his wife of 63 years and children David Peggy of Portland, John of Annapolis, MD, Susan McReynolds Dan of Puyallup, WA and Paul Tami of Hillsboro; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; sisters Adeline Majury of Portland and Barbara Dent of St. Helens.
A rosary will be said at 9:30 am followed by a funeral liturgy at 10 am with a reception following on Friday, Nov. 11th at St. Frederic Catholic Church, 175 South 13th Street, St. Helens, OR.
Interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery. A visitation time is also scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10th from 12 noon to 8:00 pm at Columbia Funeral Home at 681 Columbia Blvd. St. Helens, OR.
