Alfred "Al" Fredrick Gartzke's Obituary
Alfred Fredrick Gartzke, at the age of 93 passed into eternity at 1:30, May 11, 2024. He moved to St. Helens, Oregon with his wife Doreen to be close to family when cancer was discovered in his lung.
Alfred (Al, to many who knew him) was born November 23, 1930, in Neenah, Wisconsin to Alfred W. and Beatrice Gartzke.
Al served in the Army in the department of NOAH and later worked for the government as a computer tech. He was very active in church and boy scouts and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and volunteered as docent at the air museum close to Dayton, Oregon.
Al is survived by his wife of 28 years, Doreen, his three adult children (from a previous marriage) Keith Kilian, Denise Holland, and Deanne Lane. His bonus children are Shawn Enos, Suzi Holloway, Melissa MacDonald, and Vicki Carr. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing made him happier (except a donut or a cookie) than when his children or grandies came for a visit or called him on the phone.
Al was a man who loved his God, his family and his church, he fought the good fight and is now in his Heavenly home with God The Father and Jesus.
Per Al’s wishes there will be no services, however, feel free to remember him as you will. Mass has been said, lanterns lit, and a star is named in his honor.
