Alice J. Pierce's Obituary
Alice was born July 25, 1917 in Barton, North Dakota, the daughter of John Henry and Emmie Cloe Carter Strachan. She graduated from Barton High School in 1935. In the same year the family moved to St. Helens, Oregon where she has lived her whole life. She graduated from Western Business College, Portland and worked for Montgomery Ward, Portland. She was a loyal employee of Fred Luttrell and worked for every season in the strawberry fields. She was married September 10, 1938 to Frederick Pierce and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1970.
She enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, sewing and travelilng to Hawaii and the coast.
Alice died August 22, 2008 at Meadow Park Care Center in St. Helens.
Surviving: her daughter, Linda Darlene Pierce of St. Helens; her sister, Grace Collett of Rainier; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Roy Strachan.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home, St. Helens. Interment at Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery, St. Helens.
It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers contributions be given to the St. Helens Community Action Team, 125 North 17th Street, St. Helens, Oregon, attention to Jim Tierney in Alice's name.
