Alice Kay Warner's Obituary
Alice Kay (Englund) Warner, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Helens on June 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of three years, Richard Chulufus.
Alice was born to Joel and Freda (Block) Englund on April 27, 1939 at the original St. Helens hospital on Park Street. Her father, a native of Sweden and a local contractor, built several local houses, including a home for the family on Millard Rd. in Warren where they lived until
his passing in 1953.
Alice attended elementary school at Bachelor Flat and graduated from St. Helens High School in 1957. She was active in music and dancing, enrolling at Elaine’s School of Dance in its original home basement studio.
After graduation, Alice lived in Portland and worked at Meier and Frank. In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, Doyle K. Warner. The couple raised their children in St. Helens.
Later in life, Alice earned her real estate license and worked as an agent for Stan Wylee in Scappoose, Century 21, and Wayne Weigandt in St Helens.
Never one to shy away from a cruise in her car or conversation, Alice loved to meet new people, visit with friends, drink coffee, and eat seafood and other Swedish delicacies. Her story telling abilities were legendary. She was active at the St. Helens Senior Center and much
appreciated the services of the Meals on Wheels Program.
Most of all, Alice loved her family. She is survived by her four children: Leanne Holz (Brian Richards) of Scappoose, Julie Broders (Rick) of St. Helens, WynDee Wilson (Bryan) of Scappoose, and Joel Warner of St. Helens; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and her beloved dachshund Laya.
A date for a celebration of life is pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Helens Senior Center.
