Alvin L. Holste's Obituary
Alvin L. Holste was born on April 5, 1913 in North Bend, Nebraska to Charles & Anna Gelwick Holste.
He died at his home in Deer Island on Noember 27, 2005 at the age of 92.
He was educated in Nebaska moving to Oregon in the 1940's, living in the Raliegh Hills area of Portland prior to moving to Deer Island in 1981.
He married Marguerite on 2/8/41, she preceded him in death on 8/18/04.
He worked at a dairy coop, he was in sales for May hardware and retired from American Steel Co.
He was a member of St. Frederic Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge and the union for steel workers.
He enjoyed fishing, geneology, bowling, gardening and politics, an inventor, and enjoyed pool, he once had his own pool hall.
Survivors include: Daughter-in-law: Janis Holste-Assink; grandson: Scott Holste; siblings: Harold Holste; Effie & Ila Holste; nephew: Ralph Rossi.
Memorial Mass: Friday, 12/2/05 at 12:00 Noon at St. Frederic Catholic Church-St. Helens.
