Amanda June Borland's Obituary
Amanda June Borland, 95, of Warren, Oregon, passed away on August 3, 2024, after a triumphant battle with throat cancer.
Amanda was born on June 13, 1929, to William Lentz and Anna Dobrovolny, in Great Falls, Montana. She was the last remaining Lentz sibling of 9.
She dedicated her life to helping others and was an avid member of VFW, most of her adult life, even becoming president of the women's auxiliary.
She also spent many years volunteering as a member of the VFW at the VA Hospital in Portland, Oregon, and as a cook at the Boy Scout Camp (Camp Cooper) and Boy Scouts (Cub World). She loved to feed people. You could say it was her love language.
Her flair for the unique had her collecting peacock memorabilia. Some would say she could have had her very own peacock museum.
Amanda and her first husband, Ray Kammer Sr., had five children together. Ray Jr., Marie, Amanda, Patricia, and William.
After the passing of her husband, Ray Sr., years later, Amanda would find love again with Don Borland, who'd become her second husband. They lived in Seaside, Oregon, until Don's passing. This would lead her back to Warren, Oregon, to be closer to her family.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Ray Kammer Sr. and Don Borland. Along with her eldest daughter, Marie Hurley, and youngest son, William Kammer. She is survived by her eldest son, Ray Kammer Jr. (preceded in death by Jan Kammer), and daughters, Amanda Martin (Wayne Martin) and Patricia Lovaas (John Lovaas).
Family was everything to Amanda. Besides her children, she had the honor of having 56 grandchildren, including great and great-great grandchildren. The last being born in 2024.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:30 am at Scappoose Senior Center, with a reception ending at 1:00 pm. All family and friends are welcome.
