Anna Hilton's Obituary
Anna "Laura" Hilton was born on July 30, 1919 in Stonington, Colorado to Homer & Anna May Thomas Pendergrass.
She died at an adult assisted living home in Vancouver, WA. on October 9, 2009 at the age of 90.
She grew up near Stonington in southeastern Colorado and all five of the children were born at the family home.
Thier mother rented a home in Manter, Kansas as there were no schools close to home, the older children all started late because of the distance and Laura was also delayed starting until she was eight. The family got together on the weekends either in town or on the family farm. In 1930 her parents sold the farm and bought a place near Granada, CO. The school was much closer to home so the family could all be together. The property had a rock house, she talked alot about the house and had many fantastic memories of the house, in 1964 they traveled to Colorado to find the old rock house.
They kids rode horses to school, Laura claimed a horse
called "Prince" that she really liked.
Laura married Lawrence Hilton on August 3, 1940 in Oregon City, Oregon.
They lived in the St. Helens and Scappoose area for 42 years while Lawrence worked for the Weyerhauser Plywood Mills, retiring in 1984. They moved to Vancouver, WA. to be closer to family in 2005.
