Annabelle Etta Scheer's Obituary
Annabelle Etta Scheer, aged 91, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in Saint Helens, OR. Born on December 18, 1932 in Oakland, OR to Vern and Mary (Kirtley) Manning. Annabelle dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, loyalty, and hard work.
Annabelle grew up in the small town atmosphere of Drain, Oregon, where she attended Drain High School. Her early experiences there shaped her into a dependable and attentive individual, qualities that would define her throughout her life.
Her career was marked by roles that highlighted her industrious nature. She was a homemaker, crafted candles at Brock's candle factory, cut holly for Oregon Holly, and served as a row boss at Luttrell's strawberry fields. Each role she undertook was performed with a steadfast dedication.
Her personal life was filled with love and joy. In 1950, Annabelle married Stokley Jacobs and enjoyed their bond until his untimely death in 1957. She remarried to Martin Scheer in 1959, a love that lasted until their deaths. She is survived by her loving children Mary Ellen Minyard, Vernon Jacobs, Martin Scheer, step-children Vicki Hynes and Terry Scheer. Annabelle was a cherished grandmother to Jami, Michael, Becky, Jenny, Elizabeth, Martin, Brooklynn, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Mary Manning, her brother Bud Manning, and her husband Martin Scheer.
A devout member of St. Frederic Catholic Church, she was deeply involved in her faith community. Annabelle's hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling, embroidery, crocheting, and cake baking, each a testament to her diverse interests and talents.
Her life will be honored with a Funeral Mass at St. Frederic Catholic Church on November 12, 2024, at 11 AM, followed by a memorial service at Columbia Funeral Home on November 13, 2024, at 11 AM. Contributions in memory of Annabelle can be made to St. Frederic Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Research Hospital, honoring her life of service and devotion.
