Stephanie Ann Marsh
I first met "grandpa" in March of 2021. He was a tall man and I remember he had the biggest smile on his face every time his grandson Chris and I would walk in his house. He was so proud and his eyes always lit up when Chris was around.
When we announced to the family that Chris and I were going to get married we were at grandpa's and he was so happy that his eyes filled with tears. He wasn't always a man with many words but he didn't have to be because his emotions showed in his facial expressions. When I told him we would be married at Columbia City Hall, he reminisced with me about going out dancing there "back in his day" and being able to only have one beer the whole time he was there. And then it was non-alcoholic beer because he quit drinking.
I wasn't used to being around big families and the Marsh family definitely has many branches so I often would sit in Grandpa's room and watch old Westerns or M.A.S.H. and just talk.
Chris would tell me tons of stories about his grandma and grandpa while he was growing up and that tomatoes what he had going on or where he was laying his head, their house was ALWAYS home. He could show up day or night and the door was always unlocked. It was his safe place and he was blessed to have that growing up.
I loved grandpa the first time I met him (those of you that know the story, know the story lol). And I knew he loved me too. As sad as I am that he's not longer here with us I know that he was ready to be with his wife in heaven. Her ashes were buried with him and theyre together again at last.
Watch over all of us grandpa. Give grandma a big hug from all of us. Your legacy and memory will live on in parts of everyone that loved you. See ya on the other side.
