Arnold Joy Tryner Jr.'s Obituary
Arnold Joy Tryner, Jr. passed away on Saturday the 29th of April, 2023. Known to his family and friends as "Arnie," his presence will be greatly missed at home and in the Columbia City community.
After completely high school in California, Arnie went on to serve his country in the US Marine Corps. Several years after his continuation of service in the Marine Corps Reserve, he began a new chapter of his life when he met Linda, in 1981, in Tacoma, Washington. Together, a year later, they relocated to Portland, Oregon, before settling into Columbia City (in 1994) to finish building their dream house.
Arnie worked as a Professional Engineering Technician with SME (in Portland) for many years and was fortunate to retire in 2020 to focus on enjoying life with his wife, Linda. Arnie and Linda enjoyed going camping and traveling with the RV through Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho while relaxing and visiting family.
From a very young age, Arnie had a fondness for everything having to do with autos- both with two and four wheels. He was frequently known to bring cars and bikes home to work on, for pleasure. Recently, Arnie joined the “Hwy 30 Cruisers Auto Club” in St. Helens, Oregon, and helped with coordinating summer fun events for the group.
Arnie is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, James Davis (of Coolin, Idaho) and Eric Tryner (of Estacada, Oregon); one sister, Sandy Porath (of Valley Springs, California); one brother, Vincent Tryner (of Oklahoma); four grandchildren; thirteen nephews; and six nieces.
A "Day of Remembering Arnie" Party is set for November 18, 2023, at the St. Helens Senior Center from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
