Art G. Macabeo's Obituary
Art G. Macabeo, (69) of Saint Helens, Oregon, passed away at home on March 30th, 2024.
Art was born in Portland, Oregon to Ruth and Gene (Arsenio) Macabeo on May 13th, 1954. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating, camping, and cycling. Art was a truck driver for most of his career until health issues prevented him from working. He had juvenile arthritis as a child and was later diagnosed with diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis also known as DISH disease. Despite being in constant discomfort most of his life, he worked hard to care for his family and rarely complained. He also never lost his sense of humor or desire to be outdoors.
Art was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Karin, and their children, Jennifer and Arsenio, and granddaughter Destiny Tudor. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jay and Cathy Macabeo, his sister Felisa and brother-in-law Jon Long, sister-in-law Gloria Macabeo, brother-in-law John Morris, and nieces and nephews Chris Morris, Tracy Kinnan, Jesse Macabeo, Erica Long, and Gloriana Macabeo. Art’s nephew, Ross Macabeo, passed away more recently on May 6th, 2024. Art was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Morris, and his brother Ray Macabeo.
Please join Art’s family on Saturday, July 13th for an informal party and BBQ to honor his life and remember the good times. We will gather at Blue Lake Regional Park in Portland, Oregon, at picnic shelter B3 from Noon to 4 pm. Please wear comfortable clothes, Art didn’t want a fuss.
