Arthur Eugene Preston's Obituary
Arthur E. "Gene" Preston was born on July 18, 1941 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Clifford & Florence Rogers Preston.
He died on September 26, 2012 at his home in St. Helens surrounded by family and friends at the age of 71 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
In 1954 he moved west and settled in the St. Helens area. He married Kathleen Camelia Cave on November 18, 1960. They spent the next 40 years building a life and family in this area until her death in April of 2000.
Those who knew him knew he was a hard working, intelligent, and generous man. He enjoyed anything in the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, and riding quads. Spending time with his family was high on his priority list of things that made him happy.
We will miss him but are grateful for the 10 additional years we were able to share with him after his initial diagnosis.
Survivors include: Children: Marie Dimich of Mill City, OR.; Forrest Preston of St. Helens; Nanette Hagen of Oakland, OR.; Janette Arnold of McMinnville; Siblings: Geneva Thomas of Merril, OR.; Lyle Preston, Wanda Heile, Juanita Crouse all of Yuma, AZ.; Polly Brown, Elmer Preston, Ray Preston all of St. Helens. 13 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Kathleen in 2000 and son Kevin in 2001.
Celebration of Life: Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Yankton Community Fellowship Church, followed by a reception at the Yankton Grange.
Private Interment: Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery.
