Barbara Lorraine Barnes' Obituary
Barbara Lorraine Paulson Barnes, 92 of St. Helens, Oregon passed away on June 20th, 2019 from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Born in Colfax, Washington, she graduated from Aberdeen High School and later graduating from Central Washington College with a degree in Education.
She married James Melvin Paulson on August 27th, 1949 until his death in 1984. They raised their three children in Seattle and later retired on Vashon Island, Washington. She married FC Barnes (Barney) in 1987, moving to St. Helens, Oregon in 2008 following his death.
In St. Helens, Lorraine became known as the lady with the black grocery basket who walked all over town, enjoying visiting people she met. She was active in the Methodist Church and loved to sing hymns.
She is survived by her children, Jodie Withers (St. Helens), Lori (Steve) Patnode (Selah, Washington), and James A. Paulson (Brooklyn, New York). Grand children, Kelli Silva, Kim (Ron) Logan, and Rosie Patnode. Great grand children Jose Silva, Kaitlyn Silva, Delaney Logan, and Grady Logan.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her mother Rose, father Anfin, and sisters Eleanor and Maxine.
A family celebration of life gathering is planned for the fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association; 1650 NW Naito Parkway, Portland, Oregon 97209.
