Richard Schaede, M.D.
We were saddened to hear of Barbara's death for the first time January 22, 2014. My wife, Marlene, and Barbara were best friends in high school.
Her husband, Bill, and I attended Rantoul High School where we became friends. Bill arranged for me to have a memorable hunt for elk in Rock Springs. We were at their house when their son came home with pain in his leg from a football injury. Bill asked me to examine him. He assured me he would never sue me for practicing without a license in Wyoming. He had a fractured leg. He was taken to the local hospital for treatment. Bill and another son accompanied my hunting partner, Dr. Mark Irwin, and I to the ranch. We were in the Bridger Wilderness at Boulder Creek Ranch. Bill and his son planned to scout with us the next day. We awakened before daylight the next morning. His son was helping the "ranch hands" to saddle the the horses. One of the cowboys came in and stated the son had been thrown from a horse. He was unconscious and had sustained a concussion.
That was in the1960s and was the last time I saw Bill and Barb.
