Barbara Lee Vogele February 15, 1928 ~ July 31, 2017
Barbara Lee Vogele passed away July 31, 2017 at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. She was 89.
Born in Los Angeles on Feb. 15, 1928 to Edmund and Kate (Saunders) Langstaff, she moved to St. Helens at the age of 14 to live with her aunt, Irene Jennings, after the death of her parents.
Barbara graduated from St. Helens High School with the Class of 1946, and then worked as a telephone operator for the local telephone company until the 1960's. She worked various jobs over the years. Most recently, she served as receptionist for Community Action Team in St. Helens until her retirement in 2003.
Barbara was a collector at heart. At Halloween, she surrounded herself with an extensive collection of witches. She loved cats, especially her cat JoJo. You would never find her without crosswords or word find books. She had a passion for the arts, whether it be reading and books, music or movies.
Her greatest love and accomplishment is in that of the matriarch of her family. She was beloved by her family and loved them all unconditionally.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Vicki Eaton Swearingen of Kalama, Washington and Tracy Stasiuk of St. Helens, son Ron Eaton of Scappoose, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her son Kenneth D. Glick, Jr. preceded her in death in 2013.
Friends and family are invited to a potluck Celebration of Life, 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Kozy Korner Restaurant.
