Barry Wallace Murray's Obituary
Barry Wallace Murray was born on July 12, 1942 to Wallace B. and Joyce Ann Pearson Murray in Duluth, Minnesota. His parents were divorced and he and his little brother, Billy Steve were raised by their father and step-mother, Helen.
They lived in New Jersey for some time and ended up in Florida where he met and married, Anne Elizabeth Benni on June 27, 1965. They had a son, Christopher, and were together until she died in 1998. He then moved to Oregon to be close to his parents and siblings.
Barry was a marine mechanic for most of his life. He came to Scappoose to work at Channel Marine in April of 2004. During his lunch breaks at The Wayside he met his beloved wife, Kathleen Smith. They were married on August 12, 2005. They dearly loved each other.
He was very proud of his of Scottish descent. He loved going to the Scottish Highland Games and to dress up in full regalia. He was also an avid Nascar fan. On their first big date, he took Kathleen to the Daytona 500. He didn't tell her he had never flown before. He didn't have to. "It was worth it", he said.
Barry was a hard working man. He enjoyed reading, Fact, not fiction; and had a great mind for remembering almost everything he read. And he had a very soft spot in his heart for cats and chocolate.
He is survived by his very loving wife, Kathleen, son, Christopher, stepson, Andy Tucker; parents, Wallace and Helen Murray of Merlin, Oregon; siblings, Steve in New York, Kathy Dennis of Washington State, Wallace and Crisanne also of Merlin, Oregon.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on January 8, 2012 at 6:00PM at The Wayside in Scappoose.
