Bernard - Menchen's Obituary
Bernard Menchen died peacefully at home in Columbia City on December 17, 2005. He was 75.
He was born in Los Angeles, California on November 21, 1930 to Russian immigrants, Harry and Alice Miniser Menchen. He joined the Army, and was a manufacturer for Penguin Cabinets in Los Angeles.
Bernard was described as a kind thoughtful man who lived life to its fullest. He had a passion for gambling and was successful at taking chances and beating the odds. He owned horses and loved to watch them race. He also collected antiques.
He married Darlene Renee in 1984 and they lived in several places throughout the west: Naples, California, Encino, Sedona, Arizona and San Diego. In 2003 they moved to Columbia City, Oregon to be near the river where they could watch the river and boats.
Bernard is survived by his wife; step-son: Ron Baker and step-daughter Cheryl Menchen-Tawil and her husband, Maurice; grandchildren, Alyce and Ellie.
A Memorial Service will be at the Stephen Weis Temple in Encino, California, Thursday, December 22 at 11:00.
