Bernice M. Jenkins' Obituary
Bernice M. Jenkins was born on April 22, 1923 in Portland, Oregon to Ike & Mary Cook Dass.
She died at a Columbia Care Center in Scappoose on November 15, 2011 at the age of 88.
Bernice moved to St. Helens in 1959 from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, living here all of her adult life.
She was educated in Vernonia Natal in a 1 room schoolhouse that still stands today.
Bernice married Walter King when they were both in the service during WWII, they later divorced, later to marry Manly Davis, they too divorced. She married Tony Jenkins in the '70's and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She worked as a clerk at the Liqueur Store for 18 years from 1965-1983.
Early on she was a member of the Presbyterian denomination and she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, darts, pool, canning and taking care of people.
She was also known to some as "Bunny", Momma B" and Grandma "B".
Survivors include: 6 Children: Debbie Meyer of Vernonia; Susie Davis of Portland; Stephanie Davis of St. Helens; Mike Davis of Vernonia; John Davis of St. Helens; Dawn Davis of Port Hardy, Vancouver Island; 6 Siblings: Janey Hornback, Gladys Albee, Eleanor Young, Florence Buchanan, Jeanette Grant, Archie Dass; 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren.
