Bertie Nora Wilson-Norred's Obituary
Bertie Nora Wilson-Norred
March 20, 1919-Oct. 17, 2014
Bertie Nora Wilson-Norred, 95, passed away October 17, 2014, of natural causes at Community Hospice Care Center in Longview, Washington.
She was born March 20, 1919, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Bertie married William Wilson in February 1943 and lived in Santa Clara County, California, where they started their family. While William worked, Bertie was able to stay home with her young children. They moved several times in the coming years in order to continue providing for their family. In 1953 they moved to Rainier, Oregon, to a 40-acre strawberry farm continuing to raise their children and grow their family. In 1961 they settled in Deer Island, Oregon.
After the death of her husband William in 1978, Bertie married Joseph Norred in February 1980. Bertie worked numerous jobs to help provide for her family.
Over the years she loved quilting and has given many away to family members to carry on.
Bertie always loved to get together with her family and spend time laughing and eating, as she was the best cook any of us have ever known. Anything from her homemade banana pudding to Sunday breakfasts with biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs, nobody would ever go hungry at her house as her love had no boundaries and she would take care of everyone. Some people knew her as Bertie, Aunt Bert, mama and grandma, but no matter the name; she was one of the most loving women you could ever hope to know.
Bertie will be deeply missed by her survivors.
Bertie is survived by her children, Marine Lerner, Jimmie and Mary Wilson, Esther Petty, Shirlen and Karen Wilson, Larry and Ginger Wilson, Gerald and Terri Wilson, Charlotte and Derold Jensen, Gary and Karla Wilson and Analisa and Royce Roberts; 45 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 52 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and endless friends.
She was preceded in death by husbands, William H. Wilson of 35 years and Joseph R. Norred of 13 years; sons, Harold Jr. Wilson and David Glen Wilson; grandchildren, Lori Lynn Wilson and Jason Lee Wilson; great-grandchild, Christopher David Robert Johnson; four sisters; and three brothers.
Viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m., Friday October 24, at the Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens.
