Betty Lois Smallwood's Obituary
Betty Lois Smallwood was born on March 14, 1927 in Navaho, Montana to Fred & Edna Holt Wynia.
She died at a Portland hospital on October 2, 2007 at the age of 80.
She attended grade and hi school in Poplar, Montana, graduating in 1944. She went on to nursing school in Great Falls, Montana.
She married Warren Smallwood in Great Falls, Montana in September of 1946. He preceded her in death in 1982.
They ranched in Cascade, Montana until moving to St. Helens in 1957. They had the Richfield Bulk Plant here from 1957-1974. In 1974 they purchased Longfellows restaurant in Scappoose until they retired in 1980.
She was a member of Community Christ Church in Longview, early on the Sweet Adelines, Daughters of the Nile and the St. Helens Yahct Club.
Her enjoyments included being an avid reader, she loved music and played the organ and having a parakeet bird all of her life.
Survivors include: Sons & Daughterin-laws: Ronald & Linda Smallwood of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; John & Ruth Smallwood of Crooked River Ranch, Oregon; Brother: Robert Wynia of Helena, Montana; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
Memorial service: Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 2:30 PM at Avamere Assisted Living Center-St. Helens, OR.
