Betty Lou Stickler's Obituary
Betty Lou Stickler was born on January 28, 1926 in Scappoose, OR. to John & Lulu Worden Westover.
She died at her home in St. Helens on August 9, 2005 at the age of 79.
She attended schools in Corbett and Scappoose. When she was 17 she worked in the Portland shipyards where she learned to weld. She moved to California in 1943 where she learned to rivot, these ladies became known as Rosie the rivitors. She was also a nurses aide in the St. Helens old nursing home and hospital. Her most recent employment was at McDonalds where she worked for a year, retiring in 1997. She also received the employee of the month award.
In 1943 she married Melvin Herran, that marriage lasted until she moved back to St. Helens in 1960. In 1961 she married Robert Stickler.
Member of Sunset Park Community Church, Senior Center. At the Senior center she was involved with the craft ladies and the senior thrift store. She volunteered for Colco Transportation and SNAP and received an award for volunteer service hours. She was also a greeter at the courthouse and a My Fair Lady Princess.
She is survived by her Daughter: Caroline Leskela of Rockaway Beach, OR.; Son: Micke Stickler of St. Helens, OR.; Sister: Marguerite McGivern of St. Helens, OR.; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life: Saturday: August 20, 2005 at 11:00 at Sunset Park Community Church.
Private family committal and interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
