Beula W. Carlson's Obituary
Beula "Jean" W. Carlson was born on May 8, 1924 in Cherokee, Kansas to Proctor & Elsie Perry Hinkle.
She died at a St. Helens care facility on July 30, 2009 at the age of 85.
Beulah was educated in Cherokee, Kansas and was in the Drum & Bugel Corp. She moved to Scappoose from Antioch, CA. in the 1950's, living in the area since.
She married John Carlson in Reno, NV. in September of 1963.
On June 20, 1945 she was crowned hospitality queen in Antioch, CA. winning out over 100 hostesses.
She worked at Columbia Steel mill during WWII in California and a bartender at the Kozy Korner in St. Helens in the 1960's.
Member of the Elks & Moose Lodges, enjoyed a variety of arts & crafts, played card games, loved her cat "Miss Kitsie".
Survivors include: Husband: John "Jack" Carlson of St. Helens; Jon Carlson of Sherwood, Oregon; Daughter & Son-in-law: Jan Carlson & Paul Nyman of St. Helens; Sister: Naomi Williams of Maine; 2 grandsons: Cody & Connor.
Celebration of Life: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Columbia Funeral Home-St. Helens, OR.
Committal service & interment: Willamette National Cemetery-Portland.
