Bobby Joe Jenkins' Obituary
Bobby Joe Jenkins, a longtime resident of St. Helens died January 16, 2014 at his home in Yankton Oregon. Bobby Joe was born in America, Oklahoma to Floyd Earl and Irene (Proctor) Jenkins on September 20, 1934.
Like many boys of that era; Bobby Joe went to work at a young age and wasn’t able to graduate from high school. However, he served our country by becoming a Marine and completed his tour with an honorable discharge in 1956. Then he moved to Oregon and married Jo Ann Cavin of St. Helens; where they raised Jo Ann’s son, and two daughters of their own.
Bobby Joe worked as a logger/tree faller for Dewey Kersley for years before he and Cliff Jones of Scappoose started their own 2 J Logging Company. Bobby Joe retired from logging in 2001; but never stopped working until he got sick and passed on January 16.
Survivors include his daughters: Diane Fischer (Floyd), and Gracie Beeler both of St. Helens, and step-son, William Jones of St. Helens; brother, Mike Horn and three sisters: Lois Sullivan, Sue Johnson, and Kathy Province all of Hayworth, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren: Bryan Bundy, Krystal Fischer, and Jo Anna Fischer, and 2 great-grandchildren: Curtis and Britney Bundy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann and, brother, Ken Jenkins of Atlanta, Texas.
