Borghild S. ColemanBorghild Selbeck Coleman, 91, passed away peacefully at her home, with her children at her side, on August 24, 2010.Borg was born on May 129, 1919 in Astoria, Oregon to Norwegian immigrants, Kristoffer and Julie Gartland Selbeck. After growing up and graduating high school in Astoria, she married Edward Coleman, lived briefly in Portland, Oregon and then moved to St. Helens where she lived for over seventy years.Borg enjoyed life as a mother and homemaker. She had many good friends and especially enjoyed her sewing club as well as a Home Extension and Garden Club. Family time spent boating with friends on the Columbia River was special to her. A trip to Norway to visit relatives and to Sweden to visit Lena Eriksson who lived with the family for a year as an exchange student was a highlight of her life. In her later years, Borg enjoyed many dinners and special time with her friend, Harold Kreger.Borg is survived by her daughter, Janice Lou Stevenson; son, James Sandra Coleman; daughter, Linda Irvin Sisco; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren one more expected in December_; and numerous nieces and nephews.Her large family celebrated her life at a memorial picnic at the home of her daughter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, 1792 Marine Drive, Astoria, Oregon 97103, 503 325-2323. Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Spring Meadows her home for the past four years and to Odyssey Hospice caregivers for making her last days comfortable and peaceful.
