Burt L. Powell's Obituary
Burt L. Powell was born in Wilson, Wyoming on October 6, 1913 to John & Anna Fletcher Powell.
He died at Spring Meadow Assisted Living Center in St. Helens on August 18, 2006 at the age of 92.
He was educated in Wilson & Victor, Idaho., graduating from Victor Rural High School in 1933.
He moved to St. Helens in 1946 until present.
He married Leona Allen on April 16, 1936, she preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1979. He then maried Alta Marie Thompson Heimuller on September 20, 1980, she also preceded him in death on April 24, 1991.
He worked as a farmer and a surveyor for Idaho State Highway Dept., surveying the walkway and highway for Yellowstone National Park. He worked for Firtex then on to Crown Zellerbach, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he held leadership positions and started Boy Scout troop 242.
His enjoyments included fishing, woodworking and he was very athletic.
Survivors include: Children: Delburt Powell of Warren; Leon Powell of Roseburg, OR.; Wayne Powell of Deer Island; Larene Kelly of Warren, OR.; Ted Powell of Rainier, OR.; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren; preceded in death by 3 sons: Leo & Lyle at thier birth in '45 and LeRoy in '59.
Funeral service: Monday, 8/21/06 at 10:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-St. Helens.
Committal service & interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens-Scappoose, OR.
