Celeste Elizabeth "Bettie" Hutton's Obituary
Bettie passed away peacefully in her sleep at 95 from complications of Alzheimer’s, the family was always near. The family would like to thank the Hope House adult foster home and hospice for the wonderful care she received near the end.
Bettie was born in Hoquiam Washington to Nikolas and Marie Fetsch. She went to school in Elma and Malone Washington. After graduation she met and married Olin L. Hutton in 1941. They lived in Tacoma Washington, Belgrade Montana, Springfield and Sweet Home Oregon before settling in St. Helens in 1961. Bettie and Olin immediately joined the fellowship of Sunset Park Church of God where she taught Sunday school for many years. In 1968 they built a house in Warren where she lived until 2016 when she moved to the Hope House.
Bettie was a housewife and a great role model. Her children thought she was the hardest working person they knew. Hobbies during her life included needlework, flower and vegetable gardening, word games and sewing. She was very involved in her church and fundraising for the American Cancer Society.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Olin, brother Robert Fetsch, and sisters: Lucile Nyman and Vivian Minnick. Bettie is survived by daughters: Carolin Harris, Barbara Kawamoto and sons: James and Doug Hutton, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Park Community Church at 174 Sunset Blvd, St Helens, OR 97051 on May 9th at 1:00pm Contributions in her name can be given to The Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
