Charles Floyd East's Obituary
Charles Floyd East passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 peacefully at home with Asonia at his side.
Born March 13, 1945 in Tennessee, Floyd’s family moved back and forth across the country several times, but as a young man, he settles in the San Jose area of California, married Wanda Smith and together they had 4 children.
In 1986, Floyd came to St. Helens to visit his children and never left. This was the home of his Anam Cara, Asonia Fogarty. Once together, he never left her side and became a better person for it. Together they pursued education, travel and art. Floyd was a born artist and storyteller who could captivate others with his words and images; family and friends often received personalized cards or letters that showed how he cared for them. In his later years, he and his best friend, Darby the Dog, would go to the dog park to meet old friends and make new ones; swapping stories or showing off his children and grandchildren. He was always a proud grandpa and his grandchildren loved him for it.
Floyd is survived by his soulmate Asonia, his children, Robert, Dean, Penny, and Mary, and 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Although his is gone, his spirit and talents can be seen in the lives of those who loved him. Definitely a life well lived.
