Charles J. Stewart's Obituary
Charles J. Stewart was born on October 15, 1906 in Apache, Oklahoma to Sam & Ruth Mohme Stewart.
He died at a St. Helens nursing home on December 27, 2007 at the age of 101.
Charles said his key to a long life has been hard work. He worked at a variety of industry jobs, including wood mills, paper mills and coal mines until he was forced to retire. He even lied about his age a few times so he could go back to work.
He has been married to his 90 year old wife, Valetia for twenty-two years.
Charles always took care of himself, he never smoked or drank and was always very active. He would work out every day, lifting light weights and taking walks around the assisted living center. He still enjoyed playing checkers with his great-grandchildren. He never thought that he would hit 100.
Survivors include: Wife: Valetia Stewart of Deer Island, OR.; Children: Earl Stewart; Ellen Davis; Helen Grimes all of Longview, WA.; Mary Smith of Duvall, WA.; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service & interment: Longview Memorial Gardens Cemetery; Monday, December 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM
