Charles Ralph Roy's Obituary
A celebration of Life will be held, 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 24th at Kell's Irish Pub in Portland. Chuck passed away August 17th in St. Helens. He was 58 years of age.
Chuck was born, March 22, 1953 in Newark, New Jersey to Francis Joseph and Dorothy Anne Knott Roy. He was the 4th of 7 children. He graduated from Hackettstown High School, Hackettstown, New Jersey in 1971. While there he lettered in football all four years, was a varsity player and was part of the state championship team for those four years.
Chuck received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage; he worked in construction and later started a computer program termed the Almers Project for the federal government, which he received, awards for.
He was offered a position at the Bureau of Land Management where he worked for 22 years.
Chuck loved music and was active in several bands; The Flock was one such band. An accomplished musician, Chuck played many instruments, as well as composed and sang.
Chuck is survived by his daughter; Amber and her husband Mark Sanchez of St. Helens, his 1st grandchild soon to be born, siblings; Butch Roy, Sandy Poolas, Sue Armstrong, Dorothy Taylor, Jeff Roy and Jackie Roy, all of New Jersey.
