Christopher Michael Casillas' Obituary
Christopher Michael Casillas, was an unconditionally loving son with a generous giving
spirit. He was a devoted community advocate and veteran, who tragically passed away
in a car accident on May 17, 2025, at the age of 37. Born on July 17, 1987, in Kirkland,
Washington, Chris was raised in a loving family with his parents Isidro and Gerri, brother
Nick, sister Alyssa, and twin sister Katie. His early years in the Pacific Northwest instilled
in him the values of hard work, community, health, and service that would guide his life.
In 2006, Chris began his military journey by enlisting in the Navy and later advancing to
the Marines, where he shared the same values of camaraderie, teamwork, and
community. His total dedication spanned 12 years of service. In the Navy, Christopher
served with honor on a two-year deployment in England. After receiving an honorable
discharge, his adventurous spirit led him to traverse Europe, including a memorable
period in Budapest. In 2013, Christopher enlisted in the Marines and worked as a
dedicated basic instructor, he invested his time and expertise in guiding new recruits,
ultimately earning the rank of Sergeant over seven years of service.
After his honorable military career, Christopher dedicated himself to public service
through his work with the United States Postal Service. Serving in various locations—
from New York, Washington state, Hawaii, and Oregon—he touched countless lives
along the way. He spent most of his postal career in Washington, his leadership and
dedication culminated in his most recent role as the Postmaster of the St. Helens,
Oregon USPS branch. Chris left impressions wherever he went and was known for his
hard-working nature and his steadfast dedication to building meaningful community
connections.
Known for being inherently generous, Chris gave freely of his time, resources, and a
listening ear to anyone in need. A loyal friend and family member, he was the one you
could always count on; he famously said that if you ever needed him, he’d be there—
and he truly was. He embraced life with a unique sense of adventure, living the van life,
Christopher traveled across states to visit loved ones, cherishing the accessibility it
provided to be present for those he cared about. He also placed great importance on his
health and wellness, devoting countless hours to researching and investing in ways to
improve not only his own life but also the lives of others by sharing his insights and
knowledge generously. His presence brought warmth and light to all who knew him.
Christopher’s legacy extends far beyond his professional achievements, Chris lived his
truth, both professionally and personally he was always ready to support and inspire
others. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor combined with a deep loyalty to those
he loved, making him a friend everyone could count on.
The world has lost a remarkable giver, a kind soul whose legacy of service and
community spirit will continue to inspire everyone who had the privilege of knowing
him. We pray that Christopher finds eternal rest and belonging, and we take comfort in
believing that his bright, generous spirit is needed in heaven as much as it was here on
earth.
Christopher will be cremated, and his family will hold a private celebration of life in the
summer time in their hometown of Everett, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please
consider donating to The Seattle Stand Down in Christopher’s name. You can honor his
legacy by generously giving your time to listen to a family member, friend, or stranger—
just as he always did.
Christopher Michael Casillas will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His life reminds
us that the greatest legacy one can leave is the love, kindness, and unyielding
commitment to service that profoundly touches the lives of others.
