Cora Bethel Cimmiyotti's Obituary
Cora Bethel Bolton Cimmiyotti, a longtime resident of The Dalles, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2010.
She was born on September 5, 1916, in Boyd, Oregon, to A. Grant and Cora Bolton. The family moved to The Dalles in 1928, about the time her brother was to attend high school. Bethel graduated from The Dalles High School in 1934. She worked for "Farm & Loan" about 15 years. It was during this time she hooked-up with the only man for her, Robert J. Cimmiyotti. He walked into "Farm & Loan" and stated he had just killed a deer and asked her if she wanted a steak dinner his favorite. It's been said he didn't even know where she lived and drove around asking people if they knew the family and finally got to the right house. They were married in the small town of Camas, WA, in 1947 and were together 55 years from that day.
She took time off from working full time to raise two children - although she worked part-time as bookkeeper for her brother Grant Bolton who owned/operated Central Machine and Welding that was located at the east end of 3rd street. She returned to full time work in the early 1970's for U.S. Bank where she retired in 1982.
She is a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of both the Legion Auxiliary and Elks Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed retired life with her husband, camping & traveling, and especially the flowers in her front yard. In 2004 she moved to Scappoose, Oregon, with her daughter and son-in-law, where she lived out the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Cimmiyotti, brothers Grant Bolton, and Lynn Bolton. She leaves behind a son, Steven Cimmiyotti and his wife Debbie of Wichita, KS, a daughter, Melinda Childers and her husband Robert of Scappoose, OR; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, most of all, the wonderful, loving people who have enriched her life for so many years. SHE LOVED YOU ALL & THOUGHT OF YOU OFTEN.
Her wish is for private cremation, no viewing or memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Cancer Research, as she was a cancer survivor.
