Craig Alan DeShazer's Obituary
Craig DeShazer passed away at his home in Warren, February 28, 2012 due to complications from brain cancer. He was 50.
He was a lifelong resident of Warren and attended St. Helens schools, McBride and Yankton elementary and St. Helens Junior High, graduating from St. Helens High School in 1980.
He attended Lower Columbia College in Longview, worked for a time at J.C. Penney in St. Helens, and worked more than twenty years for Metro Overhead Door in Portland.
Craig was an accomplished musician, winning the John Phillip Sousa award as a senior in high school, and playing trombone at Lower Columbia. He was in a number of rock and country-western bands, including the Rhythm Ranch Hands, The Stiphnoyds, Region X, and The Worried Guys. He played trombone, guitar, bass and drums and performed his last gig on November 17, 2011 with many friends in attendance.
He loved the outdoors, his Scotch Highland cattle, and especially spending time with his kids. He could usually be found working around the farm and the house, visiting with his friends and telling stories.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Charlotte DeShazer.
He is survived by his brother Steve and sister-in-law Michelle, of Portland; uncles, David Larson of Portland and Loren DeShazer of St. Helens; his children, Paul, Maxwell, and Olivia of Warren; and his wonder dog Carl, loyal and true to the very end.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in St. Helens.
