Craig Matthew Carpenter
January 6, 1969 – February 8, 2009
Craig Matthew Carpenter passed away on Sunday, February 8 2009 at the age of 40, following an apparent heart attack. He was born in St. Helens, Oregon at the Columbia District Hospital on January 6, 1969.
Survivors include his partner, Rebecka Anne Williams and son Jackson Daniel Carpenter, age 8 months. Also surviving are Craig's parents, Charles and Beverly Carpenter, brother, Michael Carpenter and his two sons; Jake and Eli as well as his grandmother Irene Putnam. In addition there are numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Other survivors include John and Tina Williams of Redding, California and numerous close friends.
Craig attended Condon Grade School and graduated from St. Helens High School in 1983. He was a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in track and football. Following high school he went to Oregon State University for two years. He finally found his calling by working at various auto part stores until joining Genuine Auto Parts in 1993. He most recently was manager of the Tigard NAPA Store. Becky and Craig met at NAPA and she is currently a manager of the Clackamas NAPA store.
He was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish, and to ride ATV's. Some of the best times he spent with his family were on the dunes in Florence, Oregon. Craig was especially close to his family and enjoyed the many camping trips and associated activities.
In memory of Craig, and educational fund has been established at St. Helens Federal Credit Union in the name of Jackson Daniel Carpenter.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Craig's memory on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Helens Elks Lodge, 350 Belton Road, St.Helens, Oregon.
