Dale Bert Heimuller's Obituary
Dale Bert Heimuller was born on June 26, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to Bert & Marguerite Kammeyer Heimuller.
He died on May 12, 2010 at St. John's Medical Center in Longview, WA.
Dale was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and a graduate of Scappoose High School. He attended the University of Portland on an engineering scholarship, and then married Doris Hald on November 6, 1959.
He retired from Scappoose Sand and Gravel after 43 years beginning his career working for Charles T. Parker on the company's farm. He followed his father's footsteps and began working in the production and distribution of aggregate products and concrete.
A lifelong public servant, he served on the Columbia County Fair Board, the Scappoose School Board, and the Harvest Festival Committee. In 1990 he was elected to the Columbia County Commission where he served one term. He was very involved in his community, a member of the St. Helens Elks Lodge BPOE #1999, one of the founding member of the Elks Trap Club and the Elks Building Committee as well as a member of the Scappoose Jaycees, participating in numerous Pow Wow's.
An avid outdoorsman, he was happiest when he was fishing, hunting, clam digging and camping with his family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed competing at trap shoots, an occasional golf game, playing pinochle, and the companionship of several springer spaniels named Danny.
The ultimate joy of his life was his family. He rarely missed grandchildren's sporting events, always encouraging them to do thier best. He leaves a legacy of aspiring to be a respectful sportsman, a good citizen and public servant.
Survivors include his bride of 50 years, Doris as well as his oldest son Henry & wife Pam Heimuller; son Todd & wife Leslie Heimuller; daughter Amanda & husband Greg McFeron. He was blessed with five active grandchildren, Jennifer & Heather Heimuller, Tyler & Bryan McFeron, Mikela Heimuller.
Celebration of Life: Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Columbia County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
