Dale Keith Fischer's Obituary
Dale Keith Fischer, 93, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, surrounded by his family. Born on February 11, 1931, in Cedar Springs, Michigan, Dale spent his formative years in Wadena, Minnesota, before moving with his family to St. Helens, Oregon, at the age of 15.
As a young man, Dale worked setting pins at a bowling alley and enjoyed riding Doodlebug motorbikes with friends. He proudly served his Country for 15 years before embarking on a career with the St. Helens Public Works Department. Dale also gave back to his community as a volunteer first responder for the St. Helens Fire and Ambulance Department.
In 1965, he co-founded a general construction company with his brother Gordon, which they operated until 1969. Following this venture, Dale established his own construction company, which he successfully ran until 2008.
In December 1953, Dale married Beverly after meeting her at the Columbia County Skyline Barn Dance. Together they raised four children—Allen, Julie, Wes, and Terry—in Warren, Oregon. Dale treasured family road trips along the scenic Oregon coast and had a knack for tinkering and fixing things around the house. His love for hosting family gatherings created cherished memories for all who knew him.
Later in life, Dale developed a deep passion for rodeos and traveled extensively across the United States and Canada to attend events in places like Calgary and Cheyenne. In 1998, he married Bonnie in Scappoose, Oregon. Together they continued their travels throughout the Western U.S. until Bonnie's passing in 2003.
Dale landed in Dateland, Arizona while traveling and felt like Dateland was like stepping back in time. Dale started another business and acquired the town Tire Store and Tavern. Dale lived in Dateland from 2004-2010.
Dale found his way back to St. Helens area around 2012 being close to family again.
Dale had 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren which he immensely enjoyed spending time with. Dale enjoyed playing horseshoes, card games, and board games which he never minded losing, but boy was it special when he won.
Dale meet his current wife Evelyn in Forest Grove, Oregon and married. They were residing in Vancouver, Washington at the time of Dale's passing.
Dale is predeceased by his parents William and Blanche, brothers Bob, Loyd, Gordon, and sister Patricia, sons Allen, and Terry.
Dale is survived by his sister Gerry, daughter Julie, son Wes, and much more loved family and friends.
His life was marked by hard work, dedication to family and community, and an adventurous spirit that took him far beyond his roots.
