Dale Wayne Toms' Obituary
Dale Wayne Toms passed peacefully on Friday, December 16th in Rainier, Oregon at Friendship Farm, where he lived for the past ten years with his daughter Dinah and son-in-law Terry Faw. Dale was born November 19th, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and met his wife Jean Marilyn Toms at the University of Iowa, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He served in the Navy in the Pacific, before moving to Toledo, Ohio where he was a long time resident of Ottawa Hills. He received a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Toledo. Dale's professional career advanced and he accepted the position of Western Regional Manager for Dana Corporation in 1966, relocating his family from Toledo to Orinda, California, where he lived for 30 years. After his career with Dana Corporation, he formed Dale Toms Real Estate Investments in Orinda. Dale was a member of the Scottish Rite Group, the Barton Smith Masonic Group and the Shriners Group of Toledo, Ohio, and a life member of the American Numismatic Assocition. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jean Marilyn Toms, his parents, Harry and Verna Toms, and his only brother Winton. He is survived by his son Steven Ford Toms Joyce of Port Orchard, Washington, Dinah Ladizinsky-Faw Terry of Rainier, Oregon, Jenni Toms Jerry Bretag of Redwood Shores, California, Melissa Toms Lagreid Ted of Oakland, California and granddaughters A. Alex Ladizinsky of Portland, Oregon and Jessica and Lindsay Lagreid of Oakland, California. and granddaughters A. Alex Ladizinsky of Portland, Oregon, and Jessica and Lindsay of Oakland, California. Following his wife's death, Dale toured the West Coast, fishing and visiting his children before permanently settling in Rainier. There, he and his daughter Dinah and son-in-law Terry reclaimed 20 acres and built Friendship Farm, a blueberry and lingonberry farm and business. He lived his life well and will be greatly missed.
