Dallas Blaine Somerville's Obituary
Dallas passed away at the age of 83 at River Rock Inn foster home in Bend, Oregon on November 23rd, 2020 and was in the company of his daughter and granddaughter. He moved to Bend, Oregon on the Monday preceding Thanksgiving 2019 to be near his daughter and family and passed on the Monday preceding Thanksgiving 2020.
Dallas was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on October 8th, 1937 to Katherine and James Somerville. His family moved to Spokane, Washington where he later attended college at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. His family then moved to Pocatello, Idaho where Dallas attended Idaho State University and met his wife. Dallas married Shirley Somerville and moved to St. Helens, Oregon to start a family. Together they had two children, Katherine and James.
Dallas was employed at Trojan Nuclear Power Plant for over two decades. He and Shirley were active members of First Lutheran Church in St. Helens for many years. He loved nature, camping trips with family, grew a beautiful garden yearly and enjoyed raising his family on his five-acre property in Warren, Oregon. In his earlier years he played a good round of golf, enjoyed rock collecting and basketball.
Dallas is survived by his daughter, Katherine Sanders of Bend, Oregon, his son, James Somerville of New Market, Maryland, his granddaughter, Madelyn Sanders, grandsons, Aidan and Conor Somerville, and three grand-dogs.
Dallas will be remembered most for his sense of humor and will be missed by his family and friends.
