Danny Joseph Boom's Obituary
Funeral Services will be held, 9:00 AM, Thursday, September 22nd Columbia Funeral Home, Visitation, 1-5 PM, Wednesday, burial, 12:30 PM, Thursday, Willamette National Cemetery.
Danny passed away at home surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was 60 years of age.
Born April 2, 1951 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Lyle Gene and Rosemary Jarding Boom, the 2nd of 3 children. The family moved to Portland in 1952 where Danny was raised, he attended Columbia Grade School and Adams High School.
Danny joined the United States Army at the age of sixteen and served honorably overseas in Vietnam from May 1968 until February 1971. After the service he returned to Oregon where he resided in Portland and Winchester Bay. He met the love of his life in Eagle Point and on April 23, 1984 they were married at Myrtle Creek, Oregon. From that union they have a son.
Danny was a volunteer firefighter for Winchester Bay Fire Department before moving to the Scappoose area in 1986. As a hobby he bartered to do tractor work and cut firewood. He was known as the fire tender on all the family outings and hunting trips. He loved farming and his Kubota tractor.
Danny is survived by his wife Bonnie and son Chad, both of Scappoose, father; Lyle Boom of Portland, brother; Dave Boom of Portland, Sister Donna and husband John Hasler of Westminster, Colorado, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Preceded in death by his mother.
Military Honors and committal services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
Reception to follow committal service at Danny and Bonnie's home at 3:30 PM.
