David Carl Bergstrom's Obituary
David Carl Bergstrom, passed away peacefully at home, on October 29, 2024, in St. Helens, OR.
He was born in Everett, WA, to Teckla (Logstrom) and Melvin Bergstrom, November 1, 1951, & was the youngest of 4 siblings. After graduating from Parkrose High School in 1969, Dave was united by marriage to the love of his life, Jeannine Annette Willis, on May 1,1976.
Dave worked for Boise Cascade as a lead pipe fitter & retired after 37 years of service. He was the pipe fitter everyone was measured against. His work ethic & attention to detail, were second to none. He taught & mentored many apprentices throughout his career & was active on multiple safety committees. Dave also was a devoted union member & held numerous positions as a union officer.
He was a devout christian, & attended the Columbia River Foursquare Church in St. Helens, OR. For many years, he was a lead usher & served on the church council. Dave welcomed all, to the congregation on Sunday mornings, with a joyful disposition, big smile & open arms. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, fam camp with his church, & Tuesday coffee, with his Boise pals. Dave was a kind, funny, ornery swede, that would give you the shirt off of his back, but if you weren’t careful, you could fall victim to one of his many pranks and catch that twinkle in his eye. He was a kind, funny, sensitive, but strong man, loving husband & the best darn dad, pa, grandpa, neighbor & friend, anyone could ever have. He was a great mentor, that lead by example & leaves behind a tremendous legacy of love, that will live on, through his children & grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: his parents Teckla (Logstrom) & Melvin Bergstrom; along with his siblings, Carol Brown, Nancy Andrews, & Linda Butler.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 48 years, Jeannine Annette (Willis) Bergstrom, his 2 children, Araina (Kyle) Dinwiddie & her in-laws Mark (Kathleen) Dinwiddie, Alisha Bergstrom (fiancé Jeff Marquez); 4 grandchildren, Zebulun “Big Z” Dinwiddie, Paisley Dinwiddie, Lucy Dinwiddie, & Sophia Marquez; many nephews & nieces.
Celebration of life will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024; Potluck reception will follow, both at Columbia River Foursquare Church, 555 Commons Drive, St. Helens, OR 97051. There will be a YouTube live stream link on the church’s website, www.crfoursquare.com, for those unable to attend
