David Ross George's Obituary
David ‘Dave’ Ross George lost his battle with cancer, on August 19, 2015; after a valiant 4 month battle. David’s passing came just a year and a month after the passing of his wife, Winifred ‘Darline’ George.
David was born to Ross and Rozella George on April 10, 1941; in Merced, California. He was the oldest of three children, graduating from Atwater High School in 1961. Shortly after his graduation, the George family relocated to the Trenholm area, outside of St. Helens, Oregon. David was drafted shortly after, serving in the US Army from 1963-1965.
Farming, raising cattle, and enjoying the country life, were Dave’s passion. Many locals have fond memories of “bucking” hay for him, in the summers, on his Trenholm property. Dave also enjoyed sharing the joys of rural life with his family and grandchildren. Delivering farm fresh eggs to family members, where he’ll always be fondly remembered as the “egg man” or by teaching his grandchildren how to drive a tractor.
David is preceded in death by his parents Ross and Rozella George; wife, Darline George; and sister-in-law, Alta (Olson) George.
David is survived by his sister, Nancy Harbison (Jack); brother, Dennis George; mother-in-law, Berniece Gunn; stepdaughter, Angela Ethridge; step-son, Stephen Kaptur; and grandchildren, Stevie Kaptur, Wyatt Kaptur, Shonetta Kaptur, and Emily Ethridge; as well as many brother and sister-in laws, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Helens Foursquare Church on Saturday, August 29th, at 10:30 am.
