David William Magnuson's Obituary
The earth definitely lost an amazing man while heaven gained an amazing angel.
Though he was somewhat shy with new people he was always friendly and won people over fast. He had a wicked sense of humor and because he was often serious you couldn’t always tell if he was kidding or not. The conversation would be rolling along normal and would often come in with a zinger when you didn’t expect it.
He was a fan of Sci Fi, old Westerns, Fishing, Camping, Golf, Seattle Seahawks, WA State Huskies, and after got sick he became a huge fan of Let’s Make a Deal.
Bill was born January 27, 1944 in Puyallup Washington. He graduated from Puyallup High School as a state wrestler.
He then proceeded to serve in the US Marine Corp at Camp Pendleton and in Okinawa Japan.
He drove a bus for Tri Met for 34 years. He made it as high a number 2 on the seniority list of 1500 drivers. His favorite thing about his job was interacting with the public. He had people that would bring him cookies and cards and would always say how much they missed him if he went on vacation. He was always great with people even though he was often shy.
He was married to the love of his life Sue for 22 years before she passed away in December 1998. They were perfect together. They had similar interests and were supportive of each other and loved each other completely. He never really got over her passing and looked forward to being reunited in heaven.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He raised them as his own and never missed a ball game or opportunity for a nerf gun fight.
He handled his ALS better than anyone else could. ALS is a cruel and devastating disease and he would just say “Well, I’m almost 75 years old; I’ve had a good run”. He talked about being one of the lucky ones because so many others with ALS are diagnosed young and with a young family at home.
