Dean Harlow Giese June 23, 1935 ~ November 23, 2017
Dean Harlow Giese of St. Helens, Oregon passed away in Portland, Oregon November 23, 2017 at the age of 82. Dean was born to Pearl and Walter Giese June 23, 1935 in Austin, Minnesota.
Dean worked for Pope & Talbot, and Kaiser Gypsum before attending Portland Community College for welding to become a millwright. From there, he worked for Owen’s Corning, Alder Creek Lumber, Columbia Steel, Cascade General, NW Marine, and Under Construction.
Dean also served in the Military from 1958 to 1960 at Ft. Hood, Texas and Germany. When not working Dean had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed participating in activities at the Scappoose and St. Helens Senior Center and was also a member of the Moose Lodge. Dean traveled most of Oregon and Washington State, as well as British Columbia and Alaska by the Alcan Highway and cruised the inside passage on ferries.
Dean is survived by his wife Connie and his brother Marvin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Walter, and his brothers Bernard and Delbert.
Memorial Services will be held January 6, 2018 at 3pm at Columbia Funeral Home, and he is to be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.
