Delores Mae Gedlick
May 13, 1933 – March 21, 2016
Delores Mae Gedlick of Columbia City, Oregon passed away on March 21, 2016 at the age of 82 after a 19-year battle with Alzheimer’s, she was diagnosed in 1996.
Delores was born May 13, 1933 to Arthur and Thelma (Butterfield) Vawser in White River, South Dakota. She graduated from Scappoose High School and was a member of the Scappoose Congregational Church.
On August 30, 1952 she married Robert Gedlick in Scappoose they were married for 62 years.
During her 20 years as a Coast Guard wife Delores worked as a bookkeeper for Peterson and Deering Nursery and Boise Paper Mill. In 1980 she and Robert moved to Cove, Oregon where she worked as a store clerk briefly. In 2006 they moved to Columbia City.
Delores was a Life member of Eastern Star and a member of VFW Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, raising her children and grandchildren, sewing and cross stitch she was very crafty.
She is survived by her husband Robert Gedlick, 4 children, 3 sisters, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers.
Donations in her memory may be made to Masonic Outreach Clinic.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 from 1-2pm at Columbia Funeral Home and a graveside service will follow.
