Dixie Dianne Blaha's Obituary
Dixie Blaha of St. Helens, Oregon passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with cancer on February 27, 2019 with her family by her side. Dixie was born on March 19, 1933 in St. Helens, Oregon to Roy and Ruby Boothe. She grew up and attended school in St. Helens and graduated with the class of 1950. Two years later on May 24, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart Joe Blaha at St. Frederic’s Catholic Church. They were happily married for 38 years until Joe passed away on October 3, 1990.
Dixie was a homemaker raising 9 children which kept her very busy. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, coloring, square-dancing, sewing, shopping and she was also an avid reader. She was a member of St. Frederic’s Catholic Church and TOPS of St. Helens.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Blaha, her two sons Joey and Brian, a son in law John Liles and her brother Gary. She is survived by her daughters; Holly (Alan) Haebe, Ginger Liles, Schelli Blaha, Lucinda (Bill) Rodgers, Jamie Iverson, Andrea (David) Fontanyi and Patricia Fortin. Also surviving her are 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her companions Bob and Lily.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Columbia Funeral Home 681 Columbia Blvd, St. Helens, Oregon 97051. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners.
