Don Carl Dworschak's Obituary
Donald C. Dworschak passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, in Saint Helens, Oregon, the town where he was born on June 30, 1930.
The youngest of three children born to Hazel (Gentry) and William C. Dworschak, Don grew up in Saint Helens alongside his sisters, Opal Werings and Veryl Trotter. He began his working life farming berries before embarking on a career that would leave a lasting mark on his community.
On June 16, 1956, Don married Iona Harrison, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly seven decades. In 1958, Don founded Don’s Appliance Service after working for Rapid Service TV. Over the years, his business evolved into Don’s Appliance and Rental Service in 1967 and later became Don’s Rental. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched by his dedication to his family and community. In 1995, Don retired, allowing him and Iona to travel extensively across the United States and to destinations around the globe, including Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and Tahiti.
Don was a man of deep faith who rarely missed a church service. He especially cherished singing hymns during worship.
In his later years, Don resided at Columbia Care Center in Scappoose and Forest Park Adult Care Home. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dustin at Avalon (formerly Columbia Care Center) and Mark, Emy, and Jesse at Forest Park Adult Care Home for their compassionate care during this time.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Iona; his son Dave and Dave’s husband Steve Harmon.
Don was interred at Yankton Hillcrest Cemetery in Saint Helens, Oregon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 58690 Ross Rd, Warren, Oregon.
Don’s legacy of faith, hard work, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
