Donald E. Thomas' Obituary
Donald E. Thomas was born on September 7, 1928 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Jacob & Bertha Minner Thomas.
He died at his home in St. Helens, OR. on April 22, 2004 at the age of 75.
He moved to Harrisburg, OR. in 1933 from Nebraska. He has been a resident of St. Helens
for 53 years.
He was in the Air Force from 1947-1950, serving 27 months in Japan, veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict. He received 3 medals-Japan Occupation medal, AFR 35-50, Shiroi AAB Honshu, Japan.
He married Reta in Vancouver, WA. on August 6, 1951.
He was a millwright for Boise Cascade Paper for 40 years, retiring in October of 1990.
He loved to fish and hunt and go camping in the fifth wheel. He was an avid gardener. His family, children grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of his life.
He is survived by: Wife: Reta Thomas; Daughter: Susan Donald Vocana of Rainier, OR.; Son: Darrell Julie Thomas; Daughter: Sheryl Thomas all of St. Helens, OR.; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. He was the baby and the last survivor of a family of 11.
Celebration of Life: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Warren Community Fellowship Church.
Private family committal service & vault interment: Columbia Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Scappoose, OR.
