Cliff Shoemaker
My sincere condolences to John, Jeff, Rob Vicky and Lou Ella. I'm sorry that I'm unable to attend the celebration of life on March 8th. I too, like Don, would have enjoyed the hot dogs and pizza. So, as I live in Morton Illinois, I will have hot dogs and a drink on March 8th in memory of my cousin Don. I too grew up in Scappoose and followed Don in high school a few years later. I remember a great trip (in a nice black Cadillac sedan) to the state basketball tournament with Don and Uncle John Neuman, where Don played for Scappoose High.
I also worked in the woods logging with Don and others for Uncle John. Lots of stories about those days of logging around the Scappoose area. I was surprised to learn that Don had been in the Air Force, as I too was drafted just out of college and was able to join the Air Force due to my two years Air ROTC and with Caterpillar Tractor (a war product manufacturer).
Again, my thoughts and prayers are sent to my cousins.
Sincerely,
Cliff Shoemaker
