Donald Louis Jeanroy's Obituary
Donald Louis Jeanroy was born in New York and died at his home in Oregon on July 26, 2023. He
is survived by four children, three grandchildren and two nieces.
Don lived his life to the absolute fullest! His greatest passions were traveling near and far which
led to many, many adventures. He was a well-educated man and a master craftsman.
Don instilled in his kids certain characteristics that each one of them will carry through life in
remembrance of him.
Cathy possesses a wonderful wicked dry sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Cathy’s
favorite memory is Dad introducing her to The Far Side by Gary Larson.
Tom passionately continues the great exploration of the Pacific Northwest. If there is a natural
hot spring to be found, it’s very likely you’ll find him soaking in it. Tom also has a gift for
woodworking which has grown from making little toys as a kid in the garage with Dad to
mastering the art of chainsaw carving.
Diane carries a deep devotion to her country and fellow man as a military Veteran. Di says,
“Dad took me to the recruiting station and told me to pick any branch of the military.” The
20-year adventure began! Di also appreciates Dad’s documented research and knowledge of
our Irish and French heritage.
Dave was fortunate to have spent three years with Dad in Saudi Arabia. During this time, Dad
instilled kindness, compassion, core values, structure and integrity into Dave’s formidable years
of being a teenager. Dave looks back on these years and draws from the memories of how to be
a loving father to his own two boys, Jacob and Skyler. Dave says, “Those were some great years
that I will hold dear and will cherish for the rest of my life.”
Don and his niece Nancy became great friends as adults. She was his connection to his life in
New York. Nancy shared that Don taught by example to be loving and kind, to reach out to
others and to laugh and joke. A true gem, a diamond in the rough.
Don was blessed to have met Chan Springer in his golden years. Together they traveled the
world extensively (including those special outings to Costco). At the same time, Don and Chan
unselfishly volunteered in many avenues to give back to their community. Their world was
well-balanced with a warm and peaceful home life. Don’s kids are incredibly grateful to Chan for
being Dad’s companion and best friend.
Per Don’s request, he will be buried at sea. The U.S. Navy will perform this honor.
